Diwan Press
Fine Books on Islam, Sufism and the World Today
Diwan Press is one of the most illustrious names in Islamic publishing with an unrivalled catalogue of great works on Islam and Sufism that is a role call of honour. It was re-established in 2008 to place this existing catalogue before readers and to bring out an exciting range of new titles.
Diwan Press has a strategy to take Islamic publishing forward into the 21st century, utilising audio, video and multimedia, e-books and podcasts as well as more traditional publishing media: books, journals and magazines.
The original Diwan Press was the initiative of Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi.
Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi is the author of an astonishingly large and varied output ranging from books on Islam and Sufism to geo-political texts, novels, poems, plays, and learned articles (sometimes as prefaces to other books) on geo-politics, history, banking, psychoanalysis and a wide variety of subjects. It is Diwan Press’s privilege to have access to some of that authorship in the outstanding Diwan Press catalogue from the 70’s and 80’s.
Aside from Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi’s very considerable output as an author, some of which is to be found in this catalogue, his influence over this collection extends much further, for it was he who commissioned almost all of the translations by Aisha Bewley here, including the translation of the Noble Qur’an by her and her husband Abdalhaqq Bewley, the Muwatta’ and Muhammad the Messenger of Allah the translation of Qadi ‘Iyad’s ash-Shifa, as well as the Darqawi Way, the Meaning of Man and the other classic titles of Sufism.
